Developing a web site and putting it on the internet is important but in reality only a good first step.  You must spend a lot of time developing a strategy to allow your potential customers to find you.  This includes putting your web site domain name on everything you do.  A simple rule of thumb is: anytime you would list your phone number on something, list your web site.  

Internet search engines are only one way people find you on the web.  It is important to set goals, timelines and a budget to make your web site successful.  In many respects it is no different than many other types of advertising.  You have to determine what does and doesn't work, and then make adjustments.  Very few companies become an overnight success on the internet.  It's the same as doing business anywhere.  It takes hard work, dedication, and a sound long term business strategy.
